The idea of bringing play into my work came through watching my children learn and develop. #21daysofplay ONE
During the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 I took to instagram and explored the idea of play through my art. Using my small children as inspiration for the idea of play I took to my material like any child might, with no expectation on outcome just learning from the process.
My first #21daysofplay had me trying anything, drawing painting, creating my own paint brushes, beading etc. and while it was fun it did get tiring trying to come up with new materials/concepts everyday…

… and this was where the idea that having a limited range of materials might work better for my second 21 days of play.
In this second series I used the same size small piece of paper and a range of posca, pens, pencils, highlighters to create my artworks.
I also created a habit by sitting down in the same place at (usually) the same to complete the artwork. This series made me explore subject matter in a playful way.
